Rosacea treatment

When your skin is constantly under pressure

Do you recognize this? Your face is often red, you see broken capillaries, your skin feels burning or painful, and you regularly get inflammations. Sometimes it suddenly flares up intensely, without an obvious reason. Many people then wonder if they have rosacea.

At NovaSkin, we understand how impactful this can be. Rosacea can cause a lot of uncertainty and have a major effect on how you feel. Fortunately, something can be done about it.

Our approach to rosacea

At NovaSkin, we carefully assess whether rosacea is present and to what extent. Although receiving this diagnosis can be confronting, we believe you don't have to be powerless against it.

We work with a holistic and coaching approach that goes beyond just suppressing symptoms. The core of our treatment lies in restoring the skin barrier and microbiome, combined with mapping internal triggers. Only when the skin becomes strong and stable again can it better handle external stimuli.

It's a different approach than many people are used to, but this is exactly why we see that the skin can become calmer and more resilient.

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic, non-contagious skin condition that manifests on the face. The name literally means "red as a rose". Characteristic are persistent redness, visible blood vessels, and inflammations, especially on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.

The skin can quickly turn red with exertion, temperature changes, sun, alcohol, or spicy food. Many people also experience a burning, tingling, or tight feeling. Rosacea has different forms and phases. Initially, there is often just some redness, but over time the skin barrier can weaken and inflammations can increase.

Although rosacea is more common in women over thirty, we are seeing the condition increasingly develop at younger ages.

How do you know if you have rosacea?

Rosacea manifests differently in everyone, and not all symptoms are always visible.

A lifetime of intense blushing without obvious cause

Persistent redness that looks like blushing or sunburn

Bumps and pimples without blackheads (distinguishes rosacea from acne)

Visible small blood vessels in the skin (couperose)

Symptoms worsen with heat or cold, sun exposure, alcohol, spicy food, or hormonal fluctuations

Burning or tingling sensation

Dry or tight-feeling skin

Sometimes irritated eyes

How does rosacea develop?

The exact cause of rosacea is not yet fully known. However, we do know that it is a vascular condition in which heredity, the microbiome of the skin and gut, inflammatory processes, and the Demodex mite play a role.

What we often see at NovaSkin is that the skin barrier is weakened in rosacea. The skin has essentially lost its protective function. You can compare this to a wall where the mortar between the bricks is damaged. External stimuli can therefore penetrate more easily, resulting in inflammations and flare-ups.

The skin's microbiome is also often out of balance, causing inflammatory reactions to occur faster and more intensely. Restoring this balance is therefore an important starting point in our approach.

Rosacea triggers

Rosacea can worsen due to various external and internal factors.

Sun and UV radiation

Temperature changes, wind, and humidity

Alcohol and caffeine

Histamine-rich products

Highly spiced food

Certain food intolerances

Stress

Hormonal fluctuations

Unsuitable or irritating skincare products

Recognizing personal triggers is essential for getting rosacea under control.

How do you get rid of rosacea?

Many people with rosacea have already tried everything, sometimes even adjusted their diet, without lasting results. This can be very discouraging. Rosacea is a complex and chronic skin condition and not always completely curable.

Our goal is therefore to make the skin structurally calmer, stronger, and more resilient. We do this by restoring the skin barrier and microbiome with carefully chosen external products while also looking internally at factors such as histamine load, food intolerances, and gut barrier health.

The sooner you start with this approach, the greater the chance of stability and reduction of symptoms.

Getting rosacea under control is a team effort

The success of a rosacea treatment requires collaboration. Your commitment is very important. We guide you in using suitable skincare products that help restore the skin barrier and microbiome. Additionally, we support you where needed in recognizing internal triggers and making achievable adjustments in diet and lifestyle.

Together we work step by step towards calmer, stronger, and better-balanced skin.
