What is Dermaplaning?
Your skin continuously renews itself, but as you age, dead skin cells tend to accumulate more easily, causing the stratum corneum to thicken and making the skin look dull and grey. With dermaplaning, we remove this buildup by carefully using a sterile surgical blade to gently remove the top layer of dead skin cells and fine peach fuzz. This creates an exceptionally smooth skin surface, a fresh and healthy glow, better absorption of skincare products, and more even makeup application. Because the hair is removed without damaging the hair root, hair growth does not change. The treatment is completely painless, you can continue your day immediately, and it's an ideal preparation for peels or facials as active ingredients are better absorbed. Many people find the idea of a blade on their skin intimidating. However, we don't cut but scrape very superficially over the skin. It's a controlled technique, completely in professional hands, and your skin won't be damaged.
Benefits
Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz, making the skin look smoother, softer, and brighter
The skin becomes more even, feels refined, and has an immediate healthy glow
Makeup stays on better, skincare absorbs better
The skin looks naturally renewed without redness or downtime
Reduces the chance of acne through a thinner stratum corneum
How does it work?
Preparation: We cleanse and degrease the skin so the blade makes optimal contact
Tension and safety technique: The skin is held taut zone by zone so we work in a controlled manner
Dermaplaning: With a sterile surgical blade, we treat the skin at a precise angle. We remove dead skin cells and vellus hair without damaging the skin barrier
Hydration and recovery: The treatment is finished with calming and nourishing products
SPF protection: We protect the skin from UV light, as exfoliation makes the skin more sensitive
This is a general step-by-step plan. At NovaSkin, we don't follow fixed protocols. We tailor each treatment to your skin, recovery capacity, and goals. Additionally, we always incorporate a holistic approach during the treatment. This means we don't just look at what's visible on your skin, but also at stress, tension, the nervous system, and internal factors that may affect your skin condition.

Frequently asked questions
No. This is a persistent myth. Dermaplaning doesn't change the nature of peach fuzz. The hair grows back the same way as before the treatment.
