External Skin Journey
Peels
Do you suffer from acne, pigmentation spots or dull skin and want to address this specifically? Do you notice that your skin keeps "getting stuck" despite good care? With peels, we work deeper in the skin on recovery, cell renewal and balance, always tailored to your skin and as part of a personal skin improvement journey.
What is a peel?
Your skin continuously renews itself. In young skin, this happens on average every 28 days, but as we age, this process slows down. Dead skin cells don't release as easily, causing the stratum corneum to thicken and the skin to look dull, gray or troubled. A peel helps support this natural renewal process in a controlled way. At NovaSkin, we work with professional peels focused on cell renewal, skin texture and restoration of natural skin balance. Each peel works at a different depth and is carefully tailored to your skin condition, goals and recovery capacity. Peels go beyond what home products can achieve. They remove superficial or deeper skin layers in a controlled way, stimulate regeneration and encourage the skin to produce healthy new cells. The result is skin that not only looks fresher but also functions better.
The NovaSkin approach
At NovaSkin, we always look beyond just what's visible on the skin. We don't treat isolated complaints, but work from a well-thought-out skin improvement journey. A peel is therefore never 'just applied,' but strategically used as part of a plan that fits your skin, lifestyle and goals. Sometimes this means we consciously choose a milder approach or first focus on skin recovery before treating more intensively. We work with different types of peels: from mild and skin barrier-friendly to deeper medical peels like TCA. Which peel we choose depends on:
- Your skin type
- The condition of the skin at that moment
- Your goals
- Tolerance and recovery capacity
- Previous treatments or medication use
For deeper peels, a First Skin Consultation is required. This gives us a complete picture of your skin history and allows us to prepare you safely and properly.
What can you expect from a peel?
A peel removes old and damaged skin cells in a controlled way, giving the skin room to renew itself. Collagen and elastin processes are activated and irregularities such as pigmentation, scars or troubled skin are gradually refined. For those who suffer from dull skin, uneven complexion, acne, pigmentation spots or skin that "gets stuck," a peel can give just that push to get recovery going again.
Benefits
Acne and acne scars
Reduction of inflammation sensitivity
Smoother skin texture and refined pores
Pigmentation spots, melasma and sun damage
Fine lines and skin aging
Tired, gray skin
How does it work?
Skin preparation: cleansing and degreasing.
Analysis & adjustment: determining type and concentration.
Application: controlled application of the peel.
Monitoring: we continuously observe skin reaction, no fixed timer.
Neutralization & recovery: calming and protective products.
Advice: clear instructions for home.
This is a general step-by-step plan. At NovaSkin, we don't work with fixed protocols, but tailor each treatment to your skin, recovery capacity and goals. We also take internal and holistic factors into account, such as stress, tension and the nervous system.
Suitable for
- Acne or residual scars
- Hyperpigmentation or melasma
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin texture or enlarged pores
- First signs of skin aging
- Skin that needs a reset
Not suitable for
- ×Peels are not recommended for active infections, herpes, open wounds, recent burns or recent sunbed use. With medication such as roaccutane or other skin-thinning medication, extra caution is needed. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, certain peels are not suitable; we always discuss this beforehand.
Preparation
- Stop retinol and strong exfoliants 5–7 days beforehand
- Avoid sun or sunbed at least 2 weeks beforehand
- Report medication, hormonal treatments and skin conditions
- Don't shave or epilate just before the treatment
- For deeper peels, we always schedule a First Skin Consultation to gradually prepare the skin
Aftercare
- Drink 1.5–2 liters of water after the treatment (consider herbal tea such as nettle tea)
- Avoid alcohol for the first 24 hours (preferably longer)
- Light exercise such as walking supports lymph flow
- Give your body rest, this enhances the effect
- Use mild and restorative products during the first 24–48 hours after treatment. Don't use active ingredients such as acids and retinol for the first 48 hours.
- Avoid heavy or occlusive makeup. Do you still want to wear makeup? Choose the medical mineral makeup from O Cosmedics. Ask for a tester from one of our specialists.
- Avoid saunas, swimming pools and intense heat for the first 48 hours. For deeper peels, this may be longer.
- Touch your face as little as possible to prevent irritation or infection. Also important not to pick at loose skin.
- Protect your skin daily with SPF 50 — even on days without sun.
How often?
Superficial peels can usually be repeated every 2–4 weeks. Deeper peels require 4–8 weeks of recovery time. During the journey, we determine together a safe and effective frequency.
